Your Space for Mourning
I have lived my entire adult life caring for people as they move through the hardest days of their lives. For many years, I did that work inside funeral homes; now, I do it here, in the space I’ve created for you.
I have seen people at their lowest and witnessed them find their way to the other side. I have sat at bedsides and at the edges of yoga mats, held hands in silence, and shared wisdom gathered over two decades in death care.
Being with death every day has taught me to embrace each moment as it comes. I know that now is the most important place we can be — because nothing else is promised.
It is my calling to share what I’ve learned, so you can approach the end of a life or a season with less fear and more wonder. As a licensed death care professional, grief support specialist, death doula, and celebrant, my mission is simple: to hold your hand while you do hard things.

What is a Death Doula? How can you help?
→ Definition
A Death Doula offers non-medical, compassionate care and support to a person and their family during the dying process - before, during and after a death.
At Mourning Space, we help both the living and the dying during life’s most difficult times.
→ What I Do
I serve those at the precipice of transition and beyond - including those with a terminal illness and their families, as well as those navigating a large life transition such as the loss of a job or relationship.
I do this with ceremony, space holding, individual support as well as guided meditations and affirmations.
→ How I Help
I provide a non-judgemental and safe space for your emotions.
I offer practical, emotional, and integrative support so you don’t feel like you must handle difficult times alone.
You deserve to be seen and supported in your grief.

The Blog
Owning Life with Jokotifa
I’m exctied to share my new podcast about embracing the beginning, the end, and the messy middle of our time on Earth. I’m so grateful you're here! I started this podcast in November of 2024 as an olive branch to my community - Gen X moms doing their best to raise good kids, connect with their ancestors, and break generational trauma...all while working that 9-5! I share what I have learned from indigenous wisdom, working in death care, and by owning my own journey from awkward kid to married mom, just trying to find my place...
