Joko’s Personal Assistance - As Quoted
Personal Assistance at the End of Life
When someone you love is dying, everything changes. We are asked to balance our family, careers, and lifestyle against the emotional and physical toll of caregiving.
Ordinary things start to feel impossible like the laundry, the dishes, the phone calls - then add the decisions, the discussions and the knowledge that our lives are changed forever.
There’s too much to do and no energy to do it, which is why I step in - so you don’t have to handle every detail on your own.
I work as a Personal Assistant when someone is dying, because I believe women are not meant to do caregiving alone.
My work is balanced between the practical and the sacred. I sit at bedsides. I clean your kitchen. I care for pets. I make sure the house feels calm and organized. I give you space to rest and to cry. I check in, listen, pray if you want it, hold your hand, or leave you alone when that’s what’s needed. I will even send you a funny meme to remind you that you still have permission to laugh.
I help clarify everyone’s needs as death approaches, how you want to move through this time, what needs to be said or done, and what comes next. As an expert in the death care profession, I can talk with the funeral home on your behalf, explain what things mean, confirm details, or gently push back with organizations when something doesn’t feel right.
After death, I can help choose clothing, bathe and dress your person, write obituaries and eulogies, plan services, and help create takeaways for the ceremony. I can officiate if you wish. I can make sure you stay hydrated, your phone is answered, and your heart is carried gently.
I am a grief support specialist, death doula, and career funeral professional with 26 years of experience. I know this landscape well, the practical details, the emotional rollercoaster, the way you still need support when the services are over.
I am not afraid of the dying, and I am not afraid of your grief.
Whether you need structure, rest, clarity, or just someone beside you, I can help.
Pricing depends on days, hours, and travel, and there is also a virtual option. Please contact me below to discuss how I might best serve you, or to schedule your 30 minute complementary discovery call.
Pricing starts at $130 for one hour of consultation and a two page PDF with bullet point guidance for personal use.
On average for comprehensive in-person help before, during, and after a death, clients can expect to pay $3500.
I am also available for exclusive, in-home care at 4 week intervals. Contact me to discuss this option. Due to the nature of this service, I am only able to support 4 families each year with this service.
If your world is under water, and you need someone to help keep the ship afloat, reach out. We’ll find the way through, together.
“I had a lot of pride in knowing that I had this immense security blanket holding me the entire time, and that I felt secure. I felt safe. I felt like if I had if something came up, I knew that there was an expert next to me who was going to be able to step in and make the right decision. Even if I couldn’t hear it - even if I didn’t know that it was the right decision because of my grief, I knew that you were giving me good advice the whole time.
